uMattery is a vision on its way: a community of ordinary people who show up for the person coming home, and then build the place they come home to.
The picture in our heads
Twelve people at the gate.
Picture release day. The gate opens. Instead of a bus ticket and a plastic bag, there are twelve people waiting, people who have written letters, shown up for visits, and learned this person's name long before today.
That is the heart of uMattery: everyday people, organized into teams of twelve, carrying one person's burden together. Not a program that processes people. A community that refuses to let go.

Small circles of people who walk with someone before release, at the gate, and for years after.
A home base
A center where housing, training, and real work live under one roof, first in Indiana.
Work that builds
Garages, kitchens, workshops, and job sites where people learn a trade and build a future.
Restoration
Families put back together. Communities stronger because someone came home and stayed home.
